This Week in Student Privacy: 7/14
The Development of a Trusted Learning Environment
Collectively, 28 school districts and school-based organizations have founded a new initiative, the Trusted Learning Environment. CoSN (the Consortium for School Networking) has launched this national endeavor with AASA – The School Superintendents Association, ASBO International (the Association of School Business Officials International), and ASCD (the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development) in order to “allow school system leaders to communicate their privacy efforts to parents, communities and other stakeholders and assure the school system is adhering to best practices and taking steps in the right direction.” In order to “create more trust around the use of #studentdata,” the Trusted Learning Environment will “create [a] seal and establish criteria for schools nationwide to follow.”
We will continue to follow the development and crystallization of CoSN’s TLE initiative.
