Fake-Mailer

This application report reviews the Fake-Mailer application, produced by Fake-Mailer.com.

We find that Fake-Mailer is badware because it installs a Trojan horse application and adware, and redirects invalid web addresses to a third-party page, all without informing the user or seeking their consent. It also claims to have no spyware, but is bundled with spyware components. In addition, both Fake-Mailer and its bundled applications are impossible for the average user to uninstall.

We currently recommend that users do not download the version of Fake-Mailer that we tested, unless the user is comfortable with the level of risk we identify or until the application is updated consistent with the recommendations in this report.
