Berkman Klein faculty associate Benjamin Mako Hill published a paper on the Couchsurfing and Airbnb websites, trends in their use, what is expected of each service, arguing that their work shows a shift away from social exchange and toward markets, and what this means for the sharing economy. The paper will be presented at the ACM Conference on Computer-supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing.
