Doctor Doaa Abu-Elyounes is a Program Specialist for Ethics of Artificial Intelligence at UNESCO, and she is leading the implementation of the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of AI among different stakeholders. Doaa is also an Adjunct Professor at the Ecole Normale Superieure ENS Paris Saclay, and an Affiliated Researcher at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University. Doaa obtained her S.J.D. from Harvard Law School. She researches the topic of algorithmic governance and the different ways to regulate artificial intelligence. Doaa focuses on algorithms deployed in the public sector and examines how general principles such as fairness, transparency and accountability can be interpreted in the context of the policy domain they are implemented in.
Doaa has extensive experience working on public policy at the national and international level. Prior to her work at UNESCO, she consulted the OECD on AI regulation and was involved in shaping their work on the matter.
